About Shipvine

Our People

Shipvine wouldn't function without the dedication and hard work of our staff. We bring people from all walks of life to create a quality work environment where employees can build careers.

Our Story

Our story starts in June 2000 in Blacksburg, Virginia, when a recent Virginia Tech graduate opened an online clothing store during the dot-com days. To compete with larger businesses, systems and techniques were developed to make the process simple, accurate, and efficient. You pretty much had to do it all yourself back then!

The clothing business rapidly grew and in 2007 was moved from Blacksburg, Virginia to just outside of Richmond, Virginia in Ashland, Virginia for better access to airports and the I-95 corridor. By this time, we had seven years of ecommerce experience and had noticed a major issue—not caused by us, but rather by most of our vendors!

We were having trouble getting inventory keep up with the demand of the business. More often than not, the shipments were missing items, or they shipped wrong items, or we even received the completely wrong orders. To make matters worse, the lead times on these orders were sometimes 2-3 weeks, which is a lifetime when you're out of stock.

The constant mistakes and issues led to discussions on how our systems worked and why it was better than outdated warehouse methods used by our vendors. By 2007, one vendor was so fed up with their current warehouse that they asked us if we could ship for them. That was the start of what later would become Shipvine.

Year after year, we slowly added more customers, completely by word of mouth. By 2012, revenue for our side shipping business grew larger than the original clothing store. At that point, we chose Shipvine as a name and spun off into a totally separate business.

By 2015, Shipvine had expanded so much that it needed a new home, and we sold off the clothing business. By July 2015, Shipvine had relocated near the historic Manchester area of Richmond, Virginia.

We've shipped over 3 million orders in that time, so we've learned a thing or two about logistics.
