Efficient and Compliant EDI Fulfillment

If your brand sells through large retailers or wholesale channels like Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, or Home Depot, then you already know how critical EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is to your supply chain. Shipvine offers reliable, automated EDI fulfillment services to make sure your orders go out on time and meet each retailer’s compliance requirements.

We integrate with leading EDI providers including SPS Commerce, Spring Systems, and others to automate the full order lifecycle — from order receipt to ASN (Advance Ship Notice) and invoice.

What is EDI fulfillment?

EDI fulfillment refers to the process of receiving, processing, and shipping retailer or wholesale orders that are transmitted via Electronic Data Interchange. Instead of manual entry or emails, EDI transmits order data in a standardized digital format that complies with each retailer’s requirements.

At Shipvine, we go beyond just handling the shipment — we ensure full EDI compliance, real-time data sync, and automatic document exchange to help you stay in good standing with your retail partners.

Spring Systems

If you're using Spring Systems for your EDI integrations today, Shipvine has an integration directly with their API. Your orders, inventory, and tracking numbers can seamlessly flow without having to worry about EDI data mapping.

eZCom Lingo

We're integrated directly with eZCom's Lingo API. So if you're using eZCom for your current EDI integration, we can get you up and running quickly without any painful EDI mapping.

SPS Commerce

SPS Commerce takes a little longer to work through their onboarding team, but we have a few clients who integrate with us with SPS Commerce as their EDI Provider.

EDI over FTPS

You can also send our EDI companion guides to your current EDI Provider. They can transmit files to our secure FTPS server via X12 EDI.

How Shipvine Simplifies EDI Fulfillment

  • Connect to your EDI provider: We work with SPS Commerce, Spring Systems, and others
  • Automated order import: Orders flow directly from your retailer into our system
  • Accurate fulfillment: Shipvine picks, packs, and ships your orders according to routing guide specs
  • Generate ASN & Invoice EDI docs: We create and transmit EDI 856 (ASN), 810 (Invoice), and more
  • Retail-compliant labeling: Including GS1 barcodes, UCC-128 labels, and RFID hang tags when required

Common Retailers Using EDI Fulfillment

Shipvine supports drop shipping and bulk replenishment via EDI for many major retailers and marketplaces:

  • Deep experience with retail compliance and shipping rules
  • Automatic creation of packing slips, routing labels, and ASN documents
  • On-demand production of RFID labels to avoid maintaining separate inventory for EDI channels

Three ways to integrate with Shipvine

Shipvine Sync

Shipvine offers dozens of Shipvine-maintained, direct integrations with ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, ApparelMagic, and so on.

If your retailer offers a Dsco, OrderStream, or Mirakl integration, then we can integrate directly with those and sidestep using EDI entirely.

These integrations use the target platform's API to exchange order and shipment tracking information and inventory numbers.

The majority of Shipvine clients are using this style of integration, where Shipvine is maintaining an integration with the Shipvine Sync platform.

Shipvine REST API

Shipvine also offers an XML-based REST API called the Logistics API. The Shipvine-maintained integrations in Shipvine Sync use this same API, so you know it's a real API that works and does everything that you need it to do it.

By using the Logistics API, you can integrate your customer platform or warehouse management system (WMS) directly into Shipvine.

ANSI X12 EDI

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is an old system for programmatically exchanging information between businesses.

Think of an EDI document as corresponding to a piece of paper, like a sales order or a purchase order, that might have been faxed to a business in days gone by. A lot of different EDI document types, or "transaction sets" as they're called, have recognizable names relating to common business processes, like "Purchase Order" or "Advance Shipping Notice".

In North America, a common format for these documents is called X12, named after the organization that sets the standard for what data is supposed to appear in them. Unfortunately, the standard is copyrighted, so you won't find much helpful information online. While most new businesses use XML or JSON, established players still use EDI technology.

We can support just about any big box retailer that you need using on of the EDI providers. Some of the big names that we currently ship for are Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Wayfair, Saks, Maisonette and Home Depot.
